The home buying process can seem overwhelming, but you are very smart to start researching and working the process as early as possible.  By preparing for this journey there’s a lot you can do to:

My team has created a simple outline of the steps that you can take to help guide your effort to purchase a home in 6 months!

So, here’s how to prepare to buy a house in 180 days:

Getting Started (1^st month) – Review your position

• Manage your credit score and profile
• Create a new home savings account
• Create a down payment & closing cost savings plan
• Determine how much you can afford

The First 2 Months – Research the market and start working the plan

• Get familiar with the market
• Contact a Realtor (that’s me!)
• Make a list of ‘wants’ and ‘needs’
• Research neighborhoods

3 Months In – Loan preparation and application

• Contact a lender
• Prepare documents
• Determine what type of mortgage is right for you
• Get preapproved for a loan
• Start shopping for a home

30-60 days out – Start shopping for a home

• What to look for while viewing a home
• Open Houses
• Buyer tours

The Finish Line – Usually in the last 30-45 days – The purchase process

• Make an offer (or a few)
• Learn about the home inspection process
• Enter escrow
• Go thru underwriting
• Do a final walk-through
• Close on the deal
• Move into your next new home
