The heights community is a historic group of neighborhoods located just to the north of Downtown Tampa. Originally made of mainly craftsman bungalow homes built in the late teens through the 50’s. This neighborhood has recently gone through a gentrification and renovation period. Many of the non-performing properties are being replaced with new construction. The Heights is renown for having numerous city parks, independent restaurants, craft breweries and a strong network of neighborhood organizations.

The folklore about the wildlife being so plentiful in the Heights, led to a tale about there being a double headed alligator inhabiting somewhere in the Hillsborough River. This image was adopted buy the Seminole Heights Development Corp, who was one of the first developers of the area. It has recently been widely adopted throughout the community on murals, t-shirts and integrated into other local entity logos ever since!
