SECRET THAI ESCAPE
One of the best kept secrets of even long time Tampanians is the Wat Tampa, a Buddhist Thai Temple located in the southeast Palm River area at 5306 Palm River Rd. Every Sunday, rain or shine, people flock to Wat Tampa, a Buddhist Thai Temple, for its authentic Thai (NOT thigh) food. Overlooking the Palm River, its weekly markets are so popular, some goods and most food run out before lunchtime. Happens every weekend between 10am & 12pm. This is a great Sunday brunchtime activity!
COOL TAMPA CONCERTS
There’s a couple of cool concerts happening in and around Tampa this week:
Michael Franti & Spearhead play the Sound (Clearwater) on Friday night starting at 6pm
SoCal outfit Young The Giant will be performing 7pm Friday evening at the Yuengling Center (USF)
For the first time in 14 years, Mudvayne will be headlining at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre Friday night at 5:30pm
Lynyrd Skynyrd & ZZ Top: The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour is happening at 6:30pm Saturday at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre
Veteran punks Yellowcard are coming to the Yuengling Center (USF) at 7pm Sunday
Local act gone national Soul Circus Cowboys are playing at Skippers Smokehouse on Sunday at 4pm
COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER EVENT
The Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity is opening its member-only outdoor Family Outing event to the public, hosted by nationally syndicated comedian/actor Nephew Tommy, and Tampa Anchor/Reporter for NewsChannel 8, WFLA, Deanne King. The event features “The StompDown” Kappa Edition step and stroll showcase with teams from USF, UCF, FAMU, and more. Event goers can enjoy the sunny Riverwalk, indulge in delicious meals from local food truck vendors, and be entertained by musical guests. If you volunteer you get a free t-shirt, after effort entrance to the event & free parking. Happening Saturday from 12-5pm at Julian B Lane Park
