NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY Sunday is national Ice Cream Day! Initiated by Ronald Regan in 1984 it celebrates the tradition of cooling down during the summer time! Ice cream was first noted by the Chinese Tang dynasty around 697AD. The first ice cream machine was introduced in Italy in 1660. Then First Lady Dolly Madison served ice cream for the 1813 inaugural ball. So head to a local spot to celebrate this cool treat! |
| RED STAR SEMINOLE HEIGHTS SAYS GOODBYE After renovating an old TV repair shop on Florida avenue, Paul Medrano & Brian Bosco opened the Red Star Rock Bar. This has been an iconic meeting spot in the Heights ever since, but it has run its course and will be closing around the end of this month. Stop by for a cocktail and thank the staff for all they have contributed to this community!
