EARTHDAY

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for the environment. It was first started in 1970, and the theme this year is “Planet vs. Plastics” demanding a 60% reduction in the production of all plastics by 2040. The goal of Earth Day is to raise awareness of the importance of conservation and sustainability. Here’s some events to participate in this weekend:

Sierra Club Tampa River Paddle and Clean Up – Sunday 10am-1:30pm – Lowery Park Boat Ramp

Sierra Club EcoFest – Saturday from 10am-3pm – MOSI 4801 E Fowler

Sulphur Springs Community Clean Up – Sunday 9am – Mann-Wagnon Park 1101 E River Cove

Earthday Walk for Water – Sunday 10am – Armature Works

 

TAMPA BAY CARRIBEAN CARNIVAL

Since 2005, the annual Tampa Caribbean Festival Inc. has been bringing the island spirit to Tampa Bay. Get out and celebrate the food, music and of course the costuming all weekend! The festivities start on Saturday @ Perry Harvey Sr. Park as the Carnival honors the legacy of those from the islands who contribute to Tampa Bay history and culture. The party culminates with the Caribbean Carnival Jovert on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium! Tickets & info at tampabaycaribbeancarnival.

98 ROCKFEST 2024

The annual head banging collective returns to the Amilie Arena this Saturday evening! The event is sponsored & hosted by local hard rocker radio 98 ROCK & will not disappoint if you are looking for some national exposure of this genre. This year’s headliner is multi-platinum recording artists Staind, accompanied by top-notch rock artists, including Seether, Asking Alexandria, Dayseeker and Ayron Jones, on the main stage.
