Welcome to the new year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season & is ready to delve into a prosperous 2024! It’s only 5he 5th, but I am still working on my resolutions! The weather is variable this time of year, but with each cold snap there is usually a period of glorious weather that follows up. Looks like a bt of rain and cold this weekend! But here’s some ideas for things to do in the community!
TAMPA BAY BLACK HERITAGE FESTIVAL
Tampa Bay celebrates Black Heritage this weekend! The event is multi venue and multi facited and will last throughout the weekend. There’s lectures, workshops, a fashion show, a 5k run & the event culminates with a two day music festival on Saturday / Sunday (probably the best day) at Harvey Perry Park. THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH
The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus comes to town this weekend at the Amalie Arena. Now post animal exhibit, the show features numerous acrobatic feats, the worlds largest unicycle, lots of clowns and other family fun performances. There will be 5pm Friday, 11am,3p,&7pm Sat and 11am& 3pm Sunday! Tickets at TicketMaster.com
FITNESS IN THE HEIGHTS
According to sundried.com, 95% of New Year’s resolutions are fitness-related. According to a 2023 survey, 39% of adults have a goal to improve their fitness. So if you are resolving to get fit this year, there’s tons opportunities in our community!
There are some great fitness studios & events in the Heights from All Yall Yoga, Jai Dee Studio, Lucky Cat Yoga, Armature Works & even in many of the parks around the Heights.
YMCA has many personalized and group fitness classes & you get to use the pool!
Take a hike throughout many of the local parks. The Riverfront even has mile markers all along the walkway!
